Even more flexibility is achieved by the possibility of DI-MS. A Direct Inlet Probe can be installed simultaneously to the GC interface. You only switch in the software between the desired introduction modes. With the Direct Inlet compounds of high molecular weight (up to 1090 amu) which cannot be introduced into the GC can be identified by their mass spectra.
