Exchanging liners in a GC is one of the routine tasks for an analyst. Depending on the samples analyzed, especially their matrix content, the liner has to be exchange after a few hundred or after a few tens of injections. Based on the Optic 3 GC injector Shimadzu now offers a new automatic system for the liner exchange, called LINEX (Atas GL). This new LINEX system works fully automatically with the autosampler AOC-5000 from Shimadzu.
With LINEX, the multi-sample analysis sequence works in a simple way: the head of the injector is opened and a liner containing the sample is introduced. The head is closed and the liner is purged with carrier gas. Next, the injector is heated and the sample is transferred onto the column. At the end of the analysis the empty liner is moved back to the tray and the cycle is repeated.
